The most effective ways of networking have always been in-person. Today, the Internet and social networks have changed that scenario but we must not forget that the old mechanisms were also very effective.

Without doubt, social networks have become an essential part of our daily lives. They instantly unite us with our friends and business contacts anywhere in the world and help us to interact with new people. Speaking of social networks is now commonplace. The success of social networking is based on the easy exchange of ideas between people, institutions and groups in general. It is an open system that allows all users with common interests to build information systems because information is the new “asset” of our times.

Social networks have allowed us to communicate with people we do not know and exchange interests within a particular community. They have also broken some of the social barriers that existed, because in a social network almost anyone can be popular and build success. Thanks to networking, communication is more effective. We know most consumers, we talk in real time and all information gathered is helpful for research and studies. The work of many people has been simplified and streamlined.

So, even if old network mechanisms were effective and gave us that personal contact that may be disappearing today, even if we think of our life as it was before the arrival of social networks, let’s not forget that time is here and now, let’s be aware of the amount of new knowledge that we have acquired, how we have evolved and advanced in our work, all the people that we have met and let’s keep taking advantage of all the digital tools that are at our disposal. Not even in my dreams could I imagine a society without social media. What would become of me, what would become of us all?
